Japanese tech giant Fujitsu has unveiled a new way to check your pulse. Just pick up your iPhone or iPad, turn on the camera and point it at your face. After five seconds of staring into your lovely blue eyes, your iPhone will tell you what your pulse is and whether you are dead or alive. Coming within one year, the new technology will be able to pull off this impressive feat by measuring variations in the brightness of your face caused by the flow of blood – so if you’ve just finished a night of heavy drinking or other immoral behaviour, your reading may be off a bit.
Maybe soon this same technology will enable us to point our iPhone camera at someone’s face to find out if they are lying or not! Deceitful teenagers and cheating husbands may want to think about forming an alliance to make that technology illegal.
